Media Hub Setup

In a Media Hub and Smart Display setup, the Media Hub needs to be installed and activated before proceeding with Smart Display setup.

See General Installation for an overview of the installation/activation checklist.

Recording a MAC Address

The MAC address will likely be printed on a label affixed to the outside of the Media Hub. See Locating a MAC Address.

If you’re installing a new Media Hub, plug the player into an existing display on-site. While the display is booting up, note the MAC address of the hardware. It will be shown on the display in various places as “Hostname” on many Media Hubs - like this:

Hostname is: 002324AF 5875

Recording a Serial #

Note the Serial # on the Media Hub as it needs to be recorded on the sign-off sheet.

See the Locating a MAC Address section as the Media Hub's Serial # can be found on the same boilerplate as the MAC Address.

Media Hub Installation

1.             Locate the IT rack/room at the location.

2.           Install the Media Hub.

Install the Media Hub in the rack if there is room. If not, mount it on a wall near the rack using the mounting holes provided on the Media Hub.

Device Configuration

13.       Enter the MAC address for the Media Hub. MAC addresses autocomplete when a match is found (use the last five digits).

See Locating a MAC Address for more detail.

Distribution Progress

16.       The Media Hub needs to remain turned on so content can be downloaded. While waiting for the download to complete, you can install any remaining mounting hardware and Smart Displays.

If you encounter an "Unable to determine bandwidth" error, please proceed with the remaining steps.

You can select Continue before the download is complete.

Install Confirmation

Media Hubs won't have an associated test button - after all, they don't have a display to test - however, the Mobile Activation Application will periodically test the Media Hub automatically. A broken link icon will be displayed when the Mobile Activation Applicable is unable to connect to the Media Hub.

17.       Once the Media Hub has been successfully tested, select Confirm.

If the Media Hub fails testing, you'll be unable to move on with installation confirmation and note entry. In this case, please contact the Cineplex Help Desk.

Installation Completion

18.      Enter any applicable Notes regarding the installation.

19.       Select Done. A final confirmation will be sent to the email address entered in Step 10.

If the download is incomplete or the Media Hub hasn’t received final activation confirmation, you'll get a prompt notifying you. Please wait for download completion/activation confirmation before signing-off on Media Hub mobile activation.

20.    If applicable, proceed with Smart Display Setup.
